Ocean Isle Beach, and the sea turtles, are fortunate to have a dedicated group of volunteers that form the Turtle Watch Program of Ocean Isle Beach. These volunteers, headed up by Gloria .... A.K.A "The Turtle Lady", make themselves available at all hours of the day and night whenever and wherever a nest is spotted. Summer informational programs at OIB Community Center, 44 East First Street (Monroe Street public access) at 7 p.m. on Tuesday evenings.

The Sunset Beach Turtle Watch Program (SSBTWP) is a private, nonprofit program that solicits volunteers to help monitor turtle nesting at Sunset Beach, North Carolina. Meetings held on Sunday at 7pm at Sunset Beach Pier and Wednesday at 4 at Ingram Planetarium.

The purpose of the turtle program is to protect threatened and endangered sea turtles from extinction by educating visitors to our beach, by providing a sanctuary and safe environment for nesting turtles and hatchlings, and by aiding stranded turtles. Meetings held Thursday at 7pm at Town Hall from June 17 - mid August.
